Private Practice for Speech Anxiety.

Become more familiar with what you want to say before facing an audience.

If public speaking makes you nervous, start with a private recording. Practice a short answer, review its structure and delivery, and repeat it at your own pace before trying it with another person or an audience.

Um, basically your deck kind of explains the business. And your delivery, like, closes the round, I guess.

Your deck explains the business. Your delivery closes the round.

So, basically, a brilliant message kind of dies if you, like, can't hold the room, you know.

Um, I suppose doubt is kind of contagious. So you should sort of speak with absolute certainty, perhaps.

So I guess your resume, like, gets you in the room. And your delivery kind of gets you the job, I think.

What you get

01

Use a structure when you are worried about going blank

A simple framework can give you a clear next step while you speak. Practice with What-So What-Now What and PREP and use whichever is easiest to remember.

02

Begin with a private recording

Private practice is a low-pressure place to learn the material and notice what happens to your pace, filler words, and structure.

See examples
03

Track what changes between attempts

Repeat a comparable prompt and look for specific changes in pace, filler words, and answer structure rather than judging the whole performance at once.

See it in action

World-class speeches, broken down.

Every speech in the library runs through the same analysis your practice gets. Open one to see structure, pacing, and rhetoric.

Common questions

Why does public speaking trigger so much anxiety?

Public speaking can involve being watched and evaluated, and people experience that pressure differently. Worry about forgetting the material, being judged, or not knowing how the audience will react can all contribute. If the anxiety is persistent or interferes with daily life, consider speaking with a qualified health professional.

Does practicing actually reduce the anxiety, or just hide it?

Rehearsal can make the material and the act of speaking feel more familiar, but it does not guarantee that anxiety will disappear. Gradually practicing in more realistic situations, such as with one trusted person and later a small group, may be more useful than private rehearsal alone.

Why does private practice help if the fear is about audiences?

Private practice lets you learn the material and work on one speaking habit at a time without an audience. It can be a useful first step, but it is not the same as practicing in front of other people or receiving professional support for anxiety.

What physical techniques help in the moment?

Some people find slow, comfortable breathing or briefly grounding their attention in the room helpful before speaking. Avoid forcing a particular breathing pattern if it feels uncomfortable. These techniques may help you settle in the moment, but they are not a treatment for persistent anxiety.
